Daisy was still lost. She'd managed to wander her way to the back of the room of clothing and then out into the hallways again.

She was getting hungry. Sure, she couldn't actually starve or anything, but she still liked food and rather wanted a good muffin or something.

There were times when she missed Kiffany and Der Wafflehouse.

"Daisy?" the Doctor said, still on his mission to track her down. "Daisy?"

He paused for a second.

"Give me your answer, do?"

"I heard a bloody awful rendition in London, once," the Doctor said, following Daisy's voice. "Keep talking, if you please. It'll help me get to you."

"You do a bit of shopping, over the course of a millenium," the Doctor said. "I've got a couple packets of peanuts, if you're interested. Or I can lead you to the kitchen and cook you up a hot meal and some tea."

"Hard to tell, really," the Doctor said. "I've jettisoned rooms, restructured the interior, little of this, little of that." He held out an arm for Daisy. "You must be famished. It's been how many days?"

"Oh, that's right," the Doctor let out a single laugh. "Deceased. Forgot that. Almost like it went in one ear and straight out the other." He smiled. "Well, Miss Adair, now you know why I told you not to wander off. Next time, tie a bit of string to your door and let it trail behind you.

"Thankfully, no one has ever died getting lost in the old girl," The Doctor said, leading Daisy towards the TARDIS kitchen. "And you'd be amazed at the long list of people who've lived in here before you."

The Doctor smiled. "True," he said. "All walks of life, all sorts of different people from different times and different planets. Even had a whifferdill here, once."

"Very short, actually. He usually looked like a penguin. With a Brooklyn accent, of all things."

"Well, the accent was the same, I don't think Frobisher actually spent any time in Brooklyn," he said. He pressed open the door of the TARDIS kitchen and ushered Daisy in.

"He was probably the most peculiar fellow I've had here."

The Doctor had to stop, his mouth slightly open. It was rather like asking someone to pick their favorite child, really. Of course, when he thought of it that way, the answer was very easy.

"Susan," he said. "Always go with family, in situations like these."

"Granddaughter, actually," the Doctor said. He gestured toward a chair and set about making some tea.

"She did," The Doctor said. "Saw her grow up a bit, even. Mature. Eventually had to leave her behind, of course. Her choice." He had put the kettle on, and was now searching his cupboards for some food.

The Doctor nodded. "You miss a lot of things, living as long as I have." He ended up preparing what seemed to be a bit of stir-fry in a wok.

"A lot of things get left behind."

"Well, that's boring, that is," the Doctor said, stirring the food he was prepping. "Why would you want to only spend time with people you have so much in common with? No chance to really learn or grow, there."

"Nothing quite wrong with wearing a sack," the Doctor said, adding a dash of spices to his cooking. "It's all about accessorizing, at that point."

"Absolutely," the Doctor quickly set some rice to cook in the sonic rice cooker.

As everything could do with being more sonic.

"You don't have any food allergies I should be aware of, do you?"

"Ah, quite, yes," the Doctor said. The sonic rice cooker dinged and the Doctor went about preparing a plate for Daisy, stir-fried vegetables and chicken over rice.

"Voila," he said, setting it in front of her. He then poured her a cup of tea. "That should do you proper good, that."

The Doctor sat down across from her, and retrieved from his pocket one of the packets of peanuts he'd grabbed from Caritas.

"Well, this is a load off my mind, finding you safe and sound."

"I'm a worrier, me," the Doctor said. "But only about the big things. The small stuff? No problem. Important things, those get me worried. You're definitely important, Daisy Adair."
